At Beethovensvej housing block, the renewal of the courtyard is combined with climate adaption.

The need to remodel the terrain led to the transformation of the plain, uninspiring lawn, and worn concrete paved areas.

The result is a lush and atmospheric courtyard fully utilized to make room for play areas, picnic and gathering pockets, urban nature, and rainwater storage.

Rainwater is managed above the ground, rooftop, and surface water is collected and led through open water channels to a system of green ditches and small ponds that frame the central green spaces. In addition to ditches and ponds, we created small hills that are fun for children and divided the courtyard into smaller areas.

For the past few years, we have been working on renovating housing courtyards such as Bernhard Bangs Allé, Classensgade, and Natergalevej, where we take advantage of the renewal to develop rainwater management in the yards.
