08 May 2018 PURCHASE IN THE IDEA COMPETITION OF HAKANEMI AND SILTAVUORI SHORES
The idea competition of Hakanemi and Siltavuori Shores really stirred up the architectural community in Helsinki and started a broader discussion of urban areas and the future development of our city. 69 entries from students, architecture professors and established firms offers a wide catalog of ideas, but it is even more interesting to read the comments from the common citizens.
It’s great to see how Helsinki Municipality and the Finnish Association of Architects managed to involve local media and create attention on the competition. Not often do these discussions get outside of architectural circles.
It’s even better when our proposal got such a good response! We worked together with B & M Architects, and our proposal is highlighted as one of the best entries in terms of landscape and urban spaces.
“The proposal represents a sensible urban structure that is characterized by the solutions of the public places. The opportunities offered by the site have been well utilized and the qualities of the contribution lie in particular in the development of the public places. This proposal represents one of the best landscape architectural solutions and functional ideas”
Check out the many proposals and comments or read the jury report.
We have made more than a few master plans, development plans and strategies for the city of Helsinki both as competitions and as a part of our framework agreement with the municipality.
Kruunuvuori Masterplan, Koskela Hospital Masterplan, Design manual of Tyynenmerenkatu Cityscape, Hakaniemeni Square, Masterplan Kruunuvuorenranta, Central Pasila Design Manual, Vallila Public Transport Connection, Jätkäsaari Sports Park.
Plus a couple master plans that hasn’t made it to the website yet of: Hernesaari, Nihti and Melkinlaituri.

Our proposal aims to emphasize the existing characters and differentiate the spaces by connecting existing attractions and adding new ones.
