We are excited to be qualified in the competition to bring Tapiola city center into the present!

The iconic area from the 60ies is the cultural heart of Tapiola and an important finnish architectural icon – The competition revolves around the existing structure and how we can add to and update this in a way that reflects the history of this place.

Our approach is to be modest and built upon the existing qualities. It’s a sensitive place that is under pressure from the densification of the surrounding areas, and in order to support the growing urban life it needs an update.

We have teamed up with Anttinen Oiva Architects and LPR Architects for this task.

The competition area is similar in scale and program to our Grønnegade Square project in Odense, where a carefully detailed brick paving ties the space together and creates a new entrance to one of Odensen’s cultural nodes. Another example is our newly won square renewal project in Tampere. Where we are creating a cultural square that ties new and old together and create the framework for urban life.
